Popular Group appoints Marino Espinal as Emeritus Counselor in recognition of over 40 years of service

Santo Domingo. – The Grupo Popular and Banco Popular Dominicano awarded their highest institutional recognition by designating Mr. Marino D. Espinal as Emeritus Advisor of their respective Boards of Directors, in honor of his exemplary career of more than four decades of commitment, leadership and valuable contributions to the development of the financial group and the country. During a moving ceremony led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Popular, Manuel A. Grullón, the impact of Mr. Espinal’s career was highlighted.

“It is a living legacy of extraordinary value, which weighs on the present and will accompany the future of our financial organization,” Grullón highlighted.

The distinction of Emeritus Counselor constitutes the highest honor conferred by both entities to a member of their governing bodies. As part of the tribute, a portrait of Mr. Espinal, created by the renowned artist Miguel Núñez, was unveiled, which will become part of the institutional gallery of Grupo Popular.

In his speech, Mr. Espinal expressed deep gratitude for the recognition and assured that he felt satisfied for having contributed to the strengthening of a firm organization committed to national progress and future generations. Since joining the Popular Group in 1981, Marino D. Espinal held strategic roles, including the presidency of the Board of Directors of Banco Popular Dominicano and the vice presidency of the Board of Directors of Grupo Popular, in addition to chairing important internal committees such as those for Appointments and Remuneration, and being a key member of the Executive, Strategic, and Credit committees. In addition to his successful institutional career, he has also demonstrated business leadership at companies such as Daniel Espinal, S.A.S., INFACA and Juste Internacional, S.A.S. The event was attended by senior executives, members of the Group and Bank’s Boards of Directors, as well as the honoree’s family, who proudly shared this well-deserved recognition of an emblematic figure in the Dominican financial sector.
