Santo Domingo.- The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, assured that the country has the necessary conditions to consolidate itself as an attractive destination for foreign investment, while participating in the second day of the Americas Investment Forum.
During his speech, Peña stated that the region is going through a key moment to strengthen its position in the global economy.

“We find ourselves at a critical moment for the Americas, a moment of global positioning, a moment to act and make up for lost time by promoting key policies for the new era of investment,” he/she expressed.
The official pointed out that the international context has changed following the pandemic and geopolitical tensions, which is why she considered that countries must adapt to the new market demands.
“The world has changed and we have to adapt to the new needs of the world. We cannot just settle for being countries with good strategic locations,” he stated.
Peña explained that current investments seek resilient, innovative, and reliable economies, which is why he called for strengthening the region’s integration into global value chains and taking advantage of the opportunities offered by nearshoring.
Likewise, he highlighted that the Dominican Republic is committed to attracting investments that contribute to sustainable development.
“We don’t just want investments, we don’t just want good capital flows, we want them to be sustainable investments, we want them to create value in our economies,” he stated.
The vice president highlighted that the country offers competitive advantages such as economic stability, international connectivity, trade openness, and human capital, in addition to logistics infrastructure that facilitates trade.
He also recalled that the nation has eight international airports, 18 cargo and cruise ports, and six trade agreements that allow access to more than 1.2 billion consumers.
In that sense, he indicated that the Government continues to strengthen the business climate through legal reforms and administrative simplification programs.
“More than ten reforms have been made to our legal regulations to continue strengthening the facilitation of trade and investment, creating tools such as Zero Bureaucracy and the Single Investment Window,” he maintained.
Finally, Peña reiterated that the Dominican Republic maintains favorable growth prospects and will continue to promote policies that encourage the arrival of new investments and the generation of jobs.
