The family comedy “Popiwa”, directed by Dominican filmmaker Eddy Jiménez, will officially begin filming next Monday, March 16th, in New York City. The production promises humor, surprises, and a different approach within Latin cinema, aimed at connecting with audiences of all ages. The film is a production of Camino Films, LLC, under the general production of Hoverny Santana, and will be distributed by Spanglish Movie, which will allow it to expand its reach in the Hispanic market of the United States and Latin America.

“Popiwa” tells the story of three friends who desperately seek a way to get rich. Tired of living with economic limitations, they try various strategies to change their luck. However, their lives take a complete turn when they find a monkey that, unexpectedly, becomes the key to transforming their destiny. From that moment on, a chain of comical situations, entanglements, and life lessons is unleashed, which will test their friendship and their true priorities.
