The recognition was made as part of an official ceremony in the city of Albany, where state legislators of Dominican origin highlighted the role of Colonel Rijo Gómez in emergency response in the Dominican Republic
United States. – The executive director of the National Emergency and Security Attention System 911, pilot colonel, Randolfo Rijo Gómez, ERD, was recognized by the New York State Senate, in an event led by State Senator, Luis Sepúlveda, along with the five assembly members of Dominican origin George Álvarez, Yudelka Tapia, Karinés Reyes, Manny De Los Santos and Amanda Séptimo.
During the ceremony, held at the State Capitol, U.S. authorities presented a proclamation of recognition to Rijo Gómez, in recognition of his leadership, efficiency, and commitment to citizen protection.

In that sense, Senator Sepúlveda highlighted the fundamental role of the 911 System in coordinating the response to critical situations, such as the recent collapse of the Jet Set establishment, which occurred on April eighth in Santo Domingo. “This recognition is a show of gratitude and respect for the tireless work they do to save lives and strengthen our institutions,” he said.
During his speech, Colonel Rijo Gómez indicated that he received this recognition as a representative of a team of men and women who work in a coordinated manner to save lives permanently, especially during the most difficult moments.
“I would like to thank the honorable Senate of the State of New York, in the person of Senator Sepúlveda, as well as the assembly members of Latin and Dominican origin, who today recognize the effort of so many Dominicans committed to life. May this act also be a commitment between our two nations, to continue building great reasons and better alliances,” highlighted the director of 911.
Among the personalities were retired Major General Juan Manuel Méndez, ERD, director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE); the lawyer, Juan Salas, director of Civil Defense; and the senator for Monseñor Nouel province, Héctor Acosta (El Torito), representing the National Congress of the Dominican Republic.

As part of this three-day official visit, Colonel Rijo Gómez held meetings with senators and the State Assembly, visited fire stations and emergency services; in addition, he participated in community activities with leaders of the Dominican diaspora in the cities of Albany and the Bronx.
