A young British woman was shot dead by her own father after an argument about the President of the United States, Donald Trump, on January 10, 2025, according to British media. reports. Lucy Harrison, 23, from Warrington, Cheshire, had traveled with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to Texas to visit her father, Kris Harrison, also from the United Kingdom. However, the visit ended in tragedy after Lucy received a shot directly in the chest.

The Collin County District Attorney’s Office brought the case as a possible death by negligence. However, a grand jury decided not to bring criminal charges against Harrison. The case, now under investigation at the Cheshire Coroner’s Court in the United Kingdom, has revealed family tensions and discussions about politics and weapons, before the shooting. According to Littler’s testimony, the day of the tragedy began with a heated discussion, particularly about Trump, who at that time was preparing for his second presidential inauguration, as well as on topics such as sexual assault and firearm offenses. Later, as the couple was preparing to go to the airport and return to the UK, Harrison took his daughter’s hand and led her to her bedroom; about 15 seconds after they entered the room a shot was heard, Littler recounted. Upon running towards the room, he found Lucy on the floor, near the bathroom, while the father was incoherently screaming for help.“I didn’t understand what had happened”
For his part, the father maintains that there was no intention to cause harm. In a written statement, Kris assured that they both saw a news story about crimes with weapons when he mentioned that he had one and asked Lucy if she wanted to see it. They both went to the bedroom, he took out a Glock 9 mm pistol from the nightstand drawer and, according to his account, it suddenly fired when he picked it up to show it to her. “I heard a loud noise suddenly. I didn’t understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell“, he wrote, adding that he didn’t remember if he had his finger on the trigger.Despite undergoing rehabilitation therapy in the past, Harrison admitted that he relapsed that day, stating that he had drunk wine.
