Mexico.- The
Michou y Mau Foundation, specializing in burned minors, reported this Monday the transfer to one of its hospitals in Texas of a 2-year-old baby who survived the explosion of a gas truck in the Iztapalapa mayor’s office, in the east of Mexico City.
“Jazlyn, one of the victims of the La Concordia explosion, which occurred on September 10th, will be transferred to Shriners Hospitals for Children, in Galveston Texas”, stated the Mexican foundation.
Michou and Mau also thanked the Siglo XXI Medical Center in Mexico City, where the baby has been treated, for their support so that the foundation’s medical team could assess the minor’s case.
Jazlyn Azuleth, 2 years old, is one of the victims of the explosion that occurred last Wednesday afternoon, when a tanker truck with a capacity of 49,500 liters overturned and exploded on Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza, at the height of Puente de la Concordia, in Iztapalapa.
Her grandmother, Alicia Matías Teodoro, 49, died on Saturday after suffering severe burns to more than 90% of her body, after protecting her granddaughter from the flames.
The image of Matías Teodoro with his granddaughter in his arms has gone around the world and has been given the title of “the heroic grandmother”.
The
Government of Mexico City reported that the number of deaths after the explosion increased to 14, and so far 39 people remain hospitalized and 30 injured have already been discharged from hospitals, according to the list of local authorities.
