Borrell: “Trump wants a puppet government in Venezuela like Putin in Ukraine”
Santiago de Chile.- Former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stated this Wednesday in statements to EFE that the US President, Donald Trump, in Venezuela “wants a puppet government like the one Putin wanted to install in Ukraine and already has in Belarus.”
“The ultimate goal is not to restore democracy in Venezuela, but to seize its natural resources (…) And if for that it has to ally with the remnants of the Chavista or Maduro regime, have no doubt that it will do so,” said the also former Spanish minister, who is in Santiago to give the conference “Challenges of World Politics” on Wednesday at the University of Chile.

With more than 300,000 barrels, Venezuela “is the world’s largest oil reserve, greater than that of Saudi Arabia, and they are willing to exploit them and make them their own,” he added.
