By continuing the investigations, in coordination with authorities from the state of Morelos, in the city of Cuernavaca, a man identified as the plaza boss of a criminal group operating in Acapulco, Guerrero, and a woman accompanying him were arrested. In addition, in the Progreso neighborhood of Acapulco, the authorities seized -in a house- three short firearms, a long gun, nine magazines, more than two hundred live cartridges, and a motorcycle. Agents from the SSPC and the secretariats of National Defense (Defense), Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), along with the Guerrero State Police, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Morelos State Police participated in the arrest.Six people are arrested after the attack on officers in the Mexican resort of Acapulco
Mexico City.- Six people linked to an armed attack against agents of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) of Mexico, which left three agents injured and a suspected criminal dead, in the resort of Acapulco in the southern state of Guerrero, were arrested, federal authorities reported this Sunday.
The head of the SPC, Omar García Harfuch, pointed out -in a message on social media- that weapons and drugs were seized in the arrest and that one of the detainees was Antonio ‘N’, the intellectual author of the attack, and whom security sources and local media identified as Antonio Bautista Vargas, alias ‘El Cabañas’.
This subject is presumed to be the plaza boss of the criminal group ‘Los Rusos’, linked to kidnapping, homicide, extortion, and drug dealing, and who was accompanied by a woman, who was also arrested.
In a statement, various security agencies indicated that on October 18, SSPC agents carrying out surveillance and security patrols in neighborhoods of Acapulco, were attacked by armed individuals traveling on a motorcycle.
The agents repelled the aggression and the result of the confrontation was three injured agents, one injured and arrested aggressor, and another dead aggressor.
Following the attack, there was a security deployment to locate and detain the others involved. During the operation, on the Autopista del Sol, at the Paso-Morelos toll booth, the agents stopped a vehicle carrying three men, and after a security check, they found ninety doses of crystal meth and ten of marijuana.
