Son of NFL coach Eric Bieniemy charged in shooting of his mother

Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the 27-year-old son of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, has been charged after authorities say he shot his mother, Mia Bieniemy, multiple times inside the family’s home in Virginia.
According to investigators, the shooting occurred while Eric Bieniemy was away attending training camp. Mia Bieniemy was critically injured and remains hospitalized.
Elijah Bieniemy has been charged with malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
