Piastri takes pole in Zandvoort and Norris secures a McLaren 1-2

Zandvoort, Netherlands. – Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren), current championship leader, signed this Saturday the pole position of the Dutch Grand Prix, the fifteenth race of the Formula 1 World Championship, which is held at the historic Zandvoort circuit. His teammate, British Lando Norris, will accompany him on the front row after setting the second best time in qualifying.

Piastri, 24 years old, stopped the clock at 1:08.662 minutes during the decisive Q3, surpassing Norris by just 12 thousandths and thus sealing his fifth pole of the season. Behind the McLarens was the local idol Max Verstappen (Red Bull), third at 263 thousandths, followed by the young Frenchman Isack Hadjar (RB), who surprised with an outstanding fourth place.

The third row will be occupied by George Russell (Mercedes), fifth, and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), sixth. Further back, Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) qualified seventh and will share the fourth row with New Zealander Liam Lawson, eighth with a great performance for RB.

Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) completed the top 10 on the grid. Sainz will start ninth after finishing 843 thousandths of a second behind Piastri, while Alonso will start from tenth place, 968 thousandths of a second behind. The race is scheduled for 72 laps, for a total of 306.6 kilometers, and will start this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT) on the Dutch circuit, where McLaren will seek to consolidate its dominance with a resounding 1-2 start.
