Chad Tracy takes over as interim manager of the Red Sox after Alex Cora’s departure

BALTIMORE. – Amidst a surprising restructuring in the coaching staff, the Boston Red Sox announced the appointment of Chad Tracy as their new interim manager, replacing the Puerto Rican Alex Cora.

The decision came after a meeting between the team’s top management, led by owner John Henry, president Sam Kennedy, and chief baseball operations officer Craig Breslow, which marked the end of Cora’s tenure after more than a thousand games in charge of the team. Tracy, who managed the Triple-A Worcester team since 2022, arrives with extensive knowledge of the organization’s minor league system and a close relationship with a large part of the young core of the roster. During his tenure, he worked with prospects such as Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, Wilyer Abreu, Ceddanne Rafaela, and Jarren Durán, in addition to established players in rehabilitation processes. “Chad has been in the organization for a while and has shown his ability to bring out the best in our players,” said Breslow, who highlighted the club’s confidence in the new leader to lead this transition stage. At 40 years old, Tracy combines youth with a solid baseball background, influenced by his father, Jim Tracy, who managed for over a decade in the Major Leagues. The new foreman lived a hectic day before his official presentation. While managing Worcester, he was informed mid-game about his promotion, which forced him to travel immediately to take command of the big team.
