Dodgers eliminate Phillies and advance to their fourth National League Championship Series in the decade

LOS ANGELES. – The Los Angeles Dodgers sealed their pass to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) after defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in extra innings, taking advantage of a wild pitch by reliever Orion Kerkering in the eleventh inning. With this victory, the Angels advance for the fourth time in the decade to the prelude to the World Series.

The decisive moment arrived with the bases loaded and two outs, when Andy Pages hit a ground ball that seemed harmless. However, Kerkering’s throw to the plate went astray, allowing the winning run to cross home and unleash the celebration at Dodger Stadium.

Pitchers’ Duel and Dramatic Finish

The encounter was an intense duel between Tyler Glasnow (Dodgers) and Cristopher Sánchez (Phillies), who kept the score at zero for the first six innings. The public at Chavez Ravine enjoyed a tense game, defined by pitching and defense until the end.

In the bottom of the eleventh, Tommy Edman led off with a single and was replaced by pinch runner Hyeseong Kim. Then, Max Muncy hit another single that moved Kim to second base. A walk to Kiké Hernández loaded the bases and set the stage for the error that sealed Philadelphia’s fate.

The Brilliance of Rookie Roki Sasaki

The young Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki was key in the victory, pitching three perfect innings —eighth, ninth, and tenth— without allowing hits or runs. His dominance kept the Dodgers alive until they achieved the definitive victory.

Road to the NLCS

With this result, the Dodgers advance to the National League Championship Series, where they will face the winner between Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs.
