Santo Domingo. The Dominican Republic is back within the top 10 nations in the world after the latest update of the World Ranking of the discipline carried out on the morning of Wednesday, July 23, by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC).
The country moved up one place in the WBSC World Ranking, after closing 2024 in 11th place following its participation in Premier 12.
The head of the Dominican Baseball Federation Inc. (Fedom), Juan Núñez Nepomuceno, expressed his satisfaction with the work that the entity has been carrying out from the minor categories throughout the country.
“We have been working hard all the time to always climb the World Ranking, the Dominican Republic has improved a lot, especially in the minor categories where we have focused without rest,” commented Núñez Nepomuceno.
“Being back within the top 10 nations in the world tells us that we must insist, continue with the hard work with all the development tournaments as we are doing so far thanks to the effort of great men and women dedicated to baseball,” said the president of Fedom.
He also commented that they will not lose sight of the development categories such as U6, U8 and U12, and will focus on improving in the scoring categories such as U12, emphasizing U15, U18 and U23, especially in the last two, where in recent years the country has not had great results, but they are working on it to reach the desired goal as a baseball nation.
The Dominican Republic is in Tainan, Taiwan where they are part of the WBSC U-12 World Cup 2025, a scoring event within the World Ranking where, as a country, from July 25th to August 3rd, they will seek points to continue their progress, climbing positions and bringing home the champion’s crown.
