SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The team of the Dominican Baseball Federation that will represent the country in the World Baseball Classic is already on Dominican soil, after arriving on the afternoon of this Monday at the Las Américas International Airport on a private flight, amid the enthusiasm of fans and sports authorities.

The national team will begin its preparation schedule immediately and plans to hold its first practice this Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, where access will be allowed for between 4,000 and 5,000 fans so they can share closely with the players and experience the atmosphere before the important international tournament. The Dominican team will feature a constellation of Major League stars led by Juan Soto, Julio Rodríguez, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Carlos Santana, Ketel Marte and Geraldo Perdomo, among other figures who will wear the tricolor jersey with the aim of returning the world crown to the country. In the mound, the pitching staff also presents top-level talent, headed by Sandy Alcántara, Luis Severino, Brayan Bello, Carlos Estévez, Camilo Doval and Abner Uribe, a staff that strengthens the team’s aspirations for the competition. As part of their preparation, the Dominican Republic will play two exhibition games against the Detroit Tigers. The first will be held this Tuesday at 7:05 PM and the second on Wednesday at 3:05 PM, both games at the Quisqueya Stadium.
