FENAPEPRO demands activation of Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz for the 2025-2026 season

Santo Domingo. – The National Federation of Professional Baseball Players (FENAPEPRO) held a meeting last Wednesday, October 15, with the president of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), Vitelio Mejía, in which it demanded that the rights of the pitchers of the Estrellas Orientales, Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, to participate in the current season of the autumn-winter tournament 2025-2026, be respected.

In the meeting, Erick Almonte, president of FENAPEPRO; the lawyers Francisco Lapouble and Chanel Liranzo; the special advisor Stanley Javier; the player Robinson Canó, captain of the Estrellas Orientales; as well as the players’ agents participated. During the meeting, FENAPEPRO presented its legal and sporting arguments to the head of LIDOM, pointing out that the decision to prevent the registration of Clase and Ortiz in their team’s roster violates the principles of legality, due process, and presumption of innocence, fundamental pillars of sport and the Dominican legal order. Subsequently, the federation appeared through its lawyers before the LIDOM Board of Directors, in a session held on Thursday 16, with the purpose of substantiating its request for challenge to the measure and to file a reasoned writing that supports the legal and regulatory reasons for its petition. Pending the official pronouncement of the Board, FENAPEPRO reiterated its commitment to defending the rights of its members, and reaffirmed that it will continue to act in strict adherence to the values of transparency, justice, and good governance that should govern Dominican professional baseball.8
