San Francisco de Macorís, – The Gigantes del Cibao announced their starting pitcher rotation for the first five games of the 2025-26 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), which will begin this Wednesday, October 15th.

Leader José Leger confirmed that right-hander Emilio Vargas will be in charge of opening the inaugural game against the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago, starting a rotation that combines experience, depth, and quality on the mound.
The opening pitchers for the Gigantes del Cibao for the first five games will be as follows:
- Wednesday, October 15: Emilio Vargas vs Águilas Cibaeñas, in Santiago.
- Thursday, October 16: Daniel Mengden vs Tigres del Licey, in San Francisco de Macorís.
- Friday, October 17: Caleb Smith vs Tigres del Licey, in Santo Domingo.
- Saturday, October 18: Wily Peralta vs Águilas Cibaeñas, in San Francisco de Macorís.
- Sunday, October 19: Jake Faria vs Estrellas Orientales, in San Pedro de Macorís.
Emilio Vargas, who will be the opening pitcher for the inaugural game, had an outstanding performance with the Gigantes del Cibao last season, where he recorded a 5–0 record with an ERA of 1.87 in seven appearances, including six starts and one relief appearance.
His command, control, and consistency solidified him as one of the most effective pitchers in the championship.
The Gigantes del Cibao will begin the 2025-26 LIDOM season next Wednesday, October 15, visiting the Águilas Cibaeñas at the Cibao stadium in Santiago, marking the official start of a new campaign full of enthusiasm and high expectations for the organization and its fans.
