Travis Lakins (Leones del Escogido) were chosen as the
MVP of the Week corresponding to the period from December 1 to 7, during the seventh edition of the awards of the 2025-2026 autumn-winter championship, dedicated to the immortal Juan Marichal and in dispute of the Banreservas Cup.

The ceremony, presented by
Ron Ozama, was held at the Cibao Stadium in Santiago and was attended by a large group of communicators, as well as representatives of the franchises. The event also recognized
Bryan de la Cruz and
Jorge Tavárez, who were awarded the previous week.
Candelario, Offensive Force for the Bulls
Jeimer Candelario topped the voting for the team with
43 ballots, surpassing his teammate
Allan Castro (17 votes). During the week he played five games and had an outstanding offensive performance: a
.333 average (7 hits in 21 at-bats), including a home run and a triple. He completed a line with
.391 OBP,
.619 slugging and
1.010 OPS. With this award, it is the
seventeenth time that a Toros player has received the recognition since LIDOM resumed the awards in the 2022-2023 season.
Lakins, Dominance from the Mound
For his part, Travis Lakins obtained
49 votes to win the pitchers’ vote; his main rival was
Jean Carlos Henríquez (Águilas Cibaeñas) with 31 votes, while
Aaron Brooks (Toros) received 23 ballots. Lakins made two starts for the Leones in which he totaled
10 innings, allowed
2 earned runs,
5 hits and struck out
8 batters. His effectiveness in those outings was
1.80 and he finished with a
WHIP of 0.50, becoming the seventh pitcher for the Leones to win the award.
Acknowledgements and logistics
The selection and awards ceremony was attended by the president of the Eagles,
Víctor García Sued, and the general manager of the Bulls,
Jesús Mejía. In addition, the league recognized the work of three communicators from Santiago:
David Cepeda,
Marino Vásquez and
Emanuel Tavarez.
The voting that determines the MVPs of the Week combines the opinion of accredited communicators with the league’s digital voting, thus consolidating the most relevant performances in each competition period.
