New York — August 1, 2025 — The New York Mets confirmed this Friday the return of Dominican outfielder Juan Soto to the starting lineup, after overcoming a foot contusion that kept him out of action in the middle of this week.
Soto, 26, will be available from tonight for the first game of the series against the San Francisco Giants, occupying his usual position in right field and batting third in the order.
The manager Carlos Mendoza had already announced on Wednesday that the feelings were positive and that Soto’s return could materialize with the start of the home series.
“We knew the other day that we had a player. I consulted him yesterday and he had no problems, so he is ready to play,” Mendoza told the press.
The Dominican slugger suffered the blow last Tuesday against the Padres, after receiving a foul directly on his foot, which caused his absence in Wednesday’s game. The rapid recovery has been a relief for the Mets, who depend on his offensive production in the midst of a fight for postseason spots.

Soto’s return coincides with a bullpen reinforced after the trade deadline. The additions of “Gregory Soto”, “Tyler Rogers”, and “Ryan Helsley” bring experience in high-pressure situations and greater depth in the final innings, which expands the coaching staff’s strategic options.
With their star’s health restored and a more solid bullpen, the Mets face this series with renewed expectations and their sights set on strengthening their position in the National League.
