Ketel Marte, “the Nizao kid”, was confirmed to play in his second World Baseball Classic, after having represented the country in previous editions. His experience, offensive ability and defensive versatility make him one of the players with the greatest impact within the Dominican roster. The Dominican selection already had a solid base of talent after the confirmation of stellar figures such as Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., among other outstanding Major League players, announced at the beginning of this week. Likewise, the pitching staff received a significant boost with the integration of left-handed relievers Wandy Peralta and Gregory Soto, both with previous experience in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Peralta brings control and veteran presence from the bullpen, while Soto adds power and the ability to face key moments in the final innings. The Dominican Republic will debut in Group D of the World Baseball Classic on March 6, when they face Nicaragua at 7:00 PM (Eastern Time), at loanDepot park in Miami, starting the path in the search for a new world crown.
