Santo Domingo.- The Leones del Escogido will play preseason games on October 4 and 5 against the Charros de Jalisco in Mexico, as part of the Tequila Series, which this year will be called “Duel of Champions”.

The Leones, champions of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League, and the Charros, monarchs of the Mexican Pacific League, were the finalists in the last Caribbean Series, won by the red team from the capital in a dramatic game for the crown that ended 1-0.
Therefore, these preparation duels of both teams with a view to the 2025-26 season of their respective leagues will have a touch of revenge.
“For our organization, it is a great honor to be part of the growth of Dominican baseball on the international stage, hand in hand with a first-class organization like Charros de Jalisco, to whom we thank for their efforts to make this event possible,” said José Miguel Bonetti Du-Breil, member of the Board of Directors of Escogido.
“We have worked all year to make this event a reality and it is part of our intention to continue strengthening and expanding the Leones del Escogido brand internationally,” he continued.
The match on Saturday, October 4th will begin at 8:00 PM, while the second will start at 7:00 PM, both in Dominican time. The Panamericano Stadium (Zapopan, Jalisco) will be the scene of the battle.
The Lions, according to Bonetti Du-Breil, will bring the best possible team from Escogido to put on a show worthy of the finalists of last Caribbean Series.
The information about the meetings was revealed this Monday during a press conference organized by the Charros in Mexico, in which executives from the Jalisco organization participated, including José Luis González Iñigo, president of the Board of Directors. Also their leader Benjamín Gil. On the Escogido side, leader Alex Cintrón spoke through a video.
“This is very important for the Mexican fans to know who the Leones del Escogido are and the good baseball that is played in the Dominican Republic. This way, the ties between both countries continue to be strengthened and Dominican baseball continues to be promoted,” said Cintrón.
