SANTO DOMINGO, RD. – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, offered a warm welcome to the team that will represent the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, in an emotional reception held on Monday afternoon after the delegation arrived in the country.
The activity was marked by an atmosphere of joy and national pride. Upon arriving at the hotel, the players were greeted with typical music by the renowned merengue singer El Prodigio, whose orchestra brought the Dominican flavor to the celebration.
The event also featured the participation of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, which, through its folkloric ballet, contributed color and cultural tradition to the reception.
During the meeting, Minister Cruz personally greeted the baseball players and expressed his support for the important international commitment.
“We wanted to hold this reception to tell our stars that we are proud of the team we have and that their country supports them,” stated the head of the Ministry of Sports of the Dominican Republic.
The arrival of the players generated great enthusiasm in the hotel, where guests and collaborators took the opportunity to share with the figures of Dominican baseball, take photographs and experience the festive atmosphere up close.
During the activity, several baseball players also joined the celebration, dancing and enjoying the atmosphere with their companions.
The hotel lobby was decorated with a “back panel” that highlighted messages such as “The best in the world”, “Dominican pride!” and “Welcome”, in honor of the national team.
The Dominican delegation arrived in the country through the Las Américas International Airport José Francisco Peña Gómez on a charter flight from Miami. The team will play two preparation games against the Detroit Tigers, before their debut in the 2026 World Baseball Classic against the Nicaraguan national team. ⚾🇩🇴
