LA ROMANA.– Luis Liberato shined with the bat by connecting a home run, a double and a single, and the Toros del Este defended their home by defeating the Tigres del Licey 9-6, in a game held this Sunday at the Francisco A. Micheli Stadium, corresponding to the 2025-2026 autumn-winter baseball tournament of the LIDOM.

The victory was the 26th of the season for the Toros and the fourteenth at home, breaking a streak of five consecutive defeats. In addition, the Romanenses closed the particular series against the Tigres with a 7-3 advantage, while the Licey fell to a 21-27 record.
Liberato led the offensive charge by hitting his first home run of the campaign, the collective number 40 for the orange team, leaders of the league in that category. The outfielder extended his offensive streak by connecting hits in six of his first seven games and added his third consecutive game driving in at least one run.
From the mound, the victory went to reliever Greg Minier (2-0, 0.00), who pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two batters. The loss fell on starter César Valdez (2-1, 4.38), punished with four runs and five hits in 2.1 innings.
The races
The Toros took control early in the game with a two-run home run by Liberato in the first inning. In the second inning, they scored one more thanks to a sacrifice bunt by Tres Barrera and a sacrifice fly by Rafael Lantigua to put the score at 3-0.
The Tigres reacted in the third inning with two runs driven in by Ronny Mauricio and Mel Rojas Jr., closing the score to 3-2. However, the Toros responded immediately with two more runs, including a run-scoring single by pinch hitter Bryan Lavastida and a defensive error by shortstop Sergio Alcántara, extending the lead to 5-2.
Licey scored a run in the fourth, but the Romanenses continued their offensive with a double by Liberato and an unstoppable hit by Rudy Martín Jr. to make the score 7-3. In the seventh inning, the Toros scored two more to seal the 9-6 victory.
