Yankees start the 2026 season with authority and shut out the Giants in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, USA — The New York Yankees began the 2026 Major League Baseball season with a resounding 7-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Opening Night, played at Oracle Park.
The New York team showed their offensive power from the start, manufacturing a five-run rally in the second inning that set the course of the game. The attack was led by Trent Grisham, who hit a two-run triple, while Ryan McMahon contributed a key RBI single in the same inning.
In the mound, Max Fried was the great figure by dominating the rival offense for more than six innings without allowing runs, consolidating himself as the leader of the staff at the beginning of this campaign.
Other offensive contributions came from José Caballero, Giancarlo Stanton, and Jazz Chisholm Jr., who contributed to a collective offense that did not need a home run to prevail with authority.

Despite the resounding triumph, not everything was positive for the Yankees. Their main figure, Aaron Judge, had a difficult night, going hitless and recording four strikeouts, setting a negative record for a current Most Valuable Player on Opening Day.
With this victory, the Yankees extend their streak to five consecutive wins in opening games and send a clear message at the start of the season: they maintain their aspirations of prominence in Major League Baseball.
