Bucks agree with Taylor Jenkins as new coach after Doc Rivers’ departure

CHICAGO. — The Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement to name Taylor Jenkins as their new coach, replacing Doc Rivers, according to reports released this Thursday.

Jenkins, who previously was part of Milwaukee’s coaching staff as an assistant, returns to the organization after his time as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies, a team he led to three playoff appearances during six seasons. If the agreement is officially finalized, the coach will take over the Bucks, who are coming off a complicated season, in which they finished with a 32-50 record and out of the postseason. The new leader will replace Rivers, who left the position after two and a half years at the helm of the team, a period in which he accumulated a record of 97-103, with two eliminations in the first round of the playoffs. However, during his tenure, Milwaukee won the NBA Cup in 2024. Jenkins arrives with solid credentials and a rising profile within the league, after becoming the coach with the most wins in Memphis history and standing out for his focus on the development of young talents and a dynamic playing style. With this move, the Bucks are betting on a new direction in search of regaining prominence in the Eastern Conference and returning to contention for the championship.
