LNB announces 2026 individual award finalists

SANTO DOMINGO.- The LNB Super League announced this Monday the official list of finalists for the 2026 season individual awards, which recognize the performance of the most outstanding players and coaches of the first division circuit.

The “Most Valuable Player” award, the tournament’s top honor, is being contested by Francis King Fitzgerald (Gigantes), Andersson García (Marineros), and Luismal Ferreiras (Gigantes).

Regarding the “Rookie of the Year” distinction, Eddy Mercedes (Gigantes), Daurin Rosario (Soles), and Reggie Quezada (Leones) are fighting for the award.

For the “Sixth Man of the Year” honor, Xavier Reyes (Titanes), Oliver García (Metros), and Luis Félix (Marineros) split the votes.

Competing for the “Manager of the Year” award are Jonathan Matos (Héroes), Víctor Peña (Gigantes), and Melvyn López (Metros).

The “Defensive Player of the Year” finalists were Juan Jr. Rosario (Gigantes), Jayson Valdez (Héroes), and Andersson García (Marineros).

The Most Improved Player award features a battle between Xavier Reyes (Titanes), Eusebio Suero (Cañeros), and Andrés Fulgencio (Marineros).

New voting format

A total of 57 press professionals covering the tournament’s events were selected by the LNB to choose the best of the 2026 championship.

Each journalist ranked the candidates they found on their respective ballots. The first place received five points, the second was credited with three points, and the third received one point. The total sum of the points will determine the winners of the awards.
