Cibao FC faces O&M this Saturday in the LDF Playoffs

SANTIAGO.-Matchday 4 of the Dominican Republic Football League (LDF 2025-2026) playoffs will pit the champion and runner-up of the 2024 season against each other, as Cibao FC hosts Universidad O&M at their home ground, in the event dedicated to the promoter of this sport, Dr. José Rafael Abinader.

The match between the champions and runners-up will be this Saturday starting at 6:00 PM, at the hybrid turf stadium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. Cibao FC has four points in the Liguilla, the result of a win, a draw and a loss, in their first three outings on the field.  While the university students have only managed to add one point, achieved with a draw and two defeats. Students who have not been able to win in the Liguilla have the responsibility of representing the country in the Concacaf Champions Cup, an event where they will face the Cincinnati club from Major League Soccer (MLS). In the matches played to date, Junior Scheldeur’s team has 3 goals for and the same number against. While Universidad O&M has a terrible minus 4. The 3rd matchday had few goals and the three matches ended in a draw, when Cibao FC concluded 2-2 against Jarabacoa FC, thanks to a brace by Edwarlyn Reyes. Ángel Pérez remains the top scorer for the Naranja club with 8, while Edwarlyn Reyes now has 6, Rivaldo Correa has 3, the same amount as Carlos “Caballo” Ventura, who went to Bolivia. They have Miguel Lloyd and Edwin “Gato” Frías taking care of the goal. Club Atlético Pantoja and Moca FC tied 1-1, while Delfines del Este and Universidad O&M added a point, but no goals with a 0-0. Matchday 4 of the Liguilla begins on Saturday when Salcedo FC hosts Pantoja at the Domingo Polonia stadium, with the match scheduled for 3:30 PM. The activity this week closes on Sunday, when Moca FC hosts Delfines del Este, at 6:00 PM at the Moca 85 stadium. Moca FC is dominating the standings with 7 points, the result of 2 victories and a draw, Cibao FC, Pantoja, Delfines and Salcedo have similar marks of 4 points and the students of O&M only with one.
