New York.- — Serbian
Novak Djokovic (ATP ranking No. 7) debuted with a solid victory at the
US Open 2025 by defeating American
Learner Tien (No. 48) by
6-1, 7-6(3) and 6-2 in a match that lasted just over
two hours at the
Arthur Ashe Stadium.

In the
first set, Djokovic gave no chances and closed it in just
24 minutes. However, the
second set was much more even and was decided in a
tiebreak that the Serbian handled with authority. During this stretch, Nole requested medical assistance for discomfort in his right foot, although he was able to continue without major complications. In the
third set, after starting with a break against him, the former world number 1 reacted and secured the victory in
straight sets, something key to managing energy for the next rounds.
Djokovic arrived at
Flushing Meadows without previous matches on hard courts this season, after missing the
Masters 1000 of Toronto and Cincinnati, so this victory represents an important boost to his confidence. The Serbian seeks to conquer his
fifth US Open title and equal
Jimmy Connors,
Pete Sampras and
Roger Federer as the top male champions of the tournament in the
Open Era.

second historical position, only behind
