Abinader leads with RD$150 million in Credit to 630 SMEs

The inter-institutional day between Indotel and Promipyme promotes financial inclusion and digital transformation in constituency 3. Santo Domingo.- With an investment of RD$150 million in credits for 630 micro-entrepreneurs, President Luis Abinader led a joint day of the National Council for the Promotion and Support of Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises (Promipyme) and the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) aimed at promoting financial inclusion and digital transformation in the 3rd district of the National District. Abinader indicated that the announced resources will support businesses affected by the Melissa storm and strengthen inventories for the Christmas season, and said that 64% of the credits were granted to entrepreneurial women, reflecting the Government’s orientation towards policies that strengthen their economic participation.

“If we combine this financial support with education, which is another key lock to escape poverty, through the training promoted by INDOTEL in digital literacy, we will improve the quality of life of our people,” said the president.

During the full house event, held at the Luperón Sports Club, the general director of Promipyme, Fabricio Gómez Mazara, indicated that the institution he directs received RD$1,500 million from the emergency funds provided by the Government, which will allow closing November with a historical placement exceeding RD$1,500 million, combining state and own funds.

The official also pointed out the progress of the “Your Signature is Your Guarantee” program, which facilitates loans without guarantors to promote formalization and banking, and assured that this is the best evidence that financial inclusion works when designed by listening to the territory. Also, the president of the Board of Directors of Indotel, Guido Gómez Mazara, presented the progress of the national digital literacy program, aimed at training parents, mothers, and guardians in basic technological skills in educational centers in the country, whose initiative is part of Indotel’s digital transformation axis, designed to reduce technological gaps and expand development opportunities.

“Whoever needs a loan will get it; and whoever trains and prepares, we will also provide scholarships so that their sons and daughters can access technological education. From today until December 31st we will be knocking on the door in six municipalities of the country, bringing loans, scholarships and technological training to those who need it most” assured the president of Indotel.
