Ambassador Leah Campos visits Gonzalo Castillo

Santo Domingo.- The presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the 2020 elections, Gonzalo Castillo, met with the United States ambassador, Leah Francis Campos.

Through a post on the social network X, Castillo reported that he spoke with the diplomat about issues related to strengthening relations between both countries and the search for concrete results that benefit the Dominican population.

We share clear visions for the future of the Dominican Republic and on how to strengthen the alliance with the United States to achieve concrete results for the benefit of our people”, expressed the PLD leader.

This is the first public meeting between Castillo and Campos since the diplomat’s arrival in the country, who has developed an agenda of outreach with political leaders, business people, and national institutions.

The meeting takes place days after Castillo obtained a dismissal in the judicial process for alleged administrative corruption that the Public Ministry was pursuing against him.

Likewise, it occurs weeks after the former Minister of Public Works announced the restoration of his U.S. visa, a document that had been previously canceled. On that occasion, he thanked the efforts made by U.S. President Donald Trump and Ambassador Campos.
