Carolina inspects the works carried out by the Mayor’s Office of the DN in the city

Santo Domingo, DN – After receiving recognition in Turkey for the Urbanization Fernández Environmental Project, Carolina Mejía continues to supervise the works of the main projects currently underway in her management, such as the boulevard of Pedro Livio Cedeño Avenue, Paseo 30 de Mayo, Malecón Deportivo, Taíno Centenario park and lighting and signage in the University Zone. Villas Agrícolas and the Luperón extension will be the two sectors most benefited from the transformation in the marginal areas of Pedro Livio and its park, where structural, landscaping, and recreational use improvements continue to advance. In that sense, Mejía has closely followed each of the executions that have been carried out to ensure that the established deadlines are met and that the quality of the materials and elements is as expected.

Carolina marks a before and after in the Malecón SD On Paseo 30 de Mayo, the progress of the internal bike path and the skating rink are visible, among others inspected by the mayor along with the URBE team. According to the work plan, this important sports and recreation work that is part of the Integrated Plan of Santo Domingo, may be delivered in April of next year. The municipal executive also verified the work that has been carried out at the Malecón Deportivo, including internal paths, the materialization of commercial areas, progress on soccer fields, septic tanks, and the redevelopment of the drainage system. “Thanking the work, but above all the fulfillment of a schedule that is being executed in an exemplary manner,” he highlighted.

University Zone shines for its safety

Under the guidelines of Carolina Mejía, this week the University Zone was impacted by the replacement and installation of more than 400 LED luminaires, which fill its busy streets with security. Likewise, the municipal brigades carried out an extensive signage operation in which they placed new signs with the names of the streets. A new lung for Los Cacicazgos Carolina also supervised the work carried out in the Taíno Centenario park, located in Los Cacicazgos, where she was able to verify that the progress in construction exceeds 85%, predicting that the inauguration will take place at the end of the month. Mejía was received by a work team from the National District City Hall who explained to her that the park intervention involves more than 1,200 square meters of sidewalks and curbs. In addition, the council brigades are advancing in the installation of the children’s play area, completion of the amphitheater, perimeter fence, pet area, installation of LED luminaires, placement of grass and pruning of existing trees. Carolina took the opportunity to talk with residents about their expectations for the recovery of this space. With the aim of transforming Santo Domingo into a more organized and healthy city, during its management the municipal executive has delivered more than 205 parks and plazas built and renovated, having a great impact on the lives of the residents of the different sectors that have been benefited with these spaces conducive to recreation. Recently, Carolina handed over the Ofelia park, where the National District City Hall revitalized an abandoned area to turn it into the heart of the Ofelia urbanization; the Dionisio Amparo Community Center, in Fundación, where the gazebo was renovated, the bleachers were finished, and doors and windows were placed on the bathrooms; and La Glorieta, a space that now has a perimeter fence and lighting so that the residents of Cerros and Altos de Arroyo Hondo III can carry out their leisure activities.
