Santo Domingo, DR. – The Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, delivered 849 bulletproof vests this Tuesday, intended to strengthen the protection of personnel from the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), and the penitentiary system.
The delivery was made possible thanks to a cooperation initiative between the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in New York and the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, with the purpose of strengthening the operational capabilities of the institutions in charge of security and justice in the country.
During the event, Vásquez Martínez highlighted that this equipment represents a tool to protect public servants who face high-risk tasks daily. Likewise, he stated that the consular function must generate concrete benefits for the Dominican Republic through the promotion of international alliances.
The diplomat noted that this collaboration reflects the importance of maintaining ties with foreign organizations that allow for the channeling of resources in favor of the Dominican institutions responsible for combating crime and preserving public order.
