“Dominicanos a Simple Vista Florida” reaches its fourth destination to tell stories of the diaspora

Santo Domingo.- The executive producer and host of the documentary series, “Dominicanos a Simple Vista Florida” (Dominicans at a Glance Florida), Marianne Cruz highlighted this Tuesday that the project reaches its fourth destination, the state of Florida in the United States, to tell the stories of the Dominicans who have built new paths in that state without losing the bond with their roots and the Dominican Republic.
“There in Miami, in Orlando, in Tampa there is a very valuable community of Dominicans. We have prosecutors in the judicial system, we have, we have a Dominican who is manufacturing race cars over there and not everyone knows it here. We have basketball coaches who take the kids from here and train them over there and help them find scholarships, universities, everything,” highlighted the host of the cinematic film, Marianne Cruz.
Cruz also indicated that, apart from them, there are brilliant Dominicans working in the beauty sector, in grocery stores, in the transportation sector, and in the financial sector.
“To show that there are indeed successful people who have worked hard. That there are indeed successful people who have grinded. That there are indeed successful people who have made mistakes and tried again, but that the most important thing is that they have managed to get back up again and again for themselves, for their family, and for the Dominican Republic,” asserted Marianne Cruz.

The premiere marked the beginning of its theatrical run and presented an installment that broadens the perspective on Dominicans abroad, through testimonies connected by a common starting point: the different ways in which identity, preparation, resilience, and a sense of belonging accompany Dominicans who build their lives and careers outside the country.
“I take away from this experience the certainty that there is not just one way to represent the Dominican Republic. Our identity is also expressed in what we do, in the values we share, in the opportunities we create for others, and in the way we carry a piece of our land to every place where we build our path,” expressed Marianne Cruz.

From the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE), its general director, Marianna Vargas, highlighted the value of these types of productions to document and preserve the experiences of the Dominican diaspora.
“The premiere of this new destination in the Dominicanos a Simple Vista series highlights the value of the documentary genre in bringing us closer to the stories of our diaspora and recognizing their contributions. Productions like this not only connect us with Dominicans beyond our borders, but also preserve their experiences and contribute to enriching the audiovisual memory of our collective identity,” stated Vargas.
80 minutes, different ways to build a path
Throughout 80 minutes, the production approaches the processes that exist behind them: starting over in another country, taking on different jobs while pursuing a goal, rebuilding a career, transforming a trade into a business, occupying leadership positions, creating spaces for others, and turning the acquired experience into a tool to train new generations.
In this edition, Dominicanos a Simple Vista brings together the stories of Francisca Méndez-Zampogna, communicator and host of Despierta América; Tony Dandrades, journalist and television host; Maffio, producer, songwriter, and musical artist; Chiky Bombom, influencer and television host of En Casa con Telemundo; Vilma Núñez, entrepreneur and digital marketing strategist; Mariela Encarnación, journalist and host for CNN, Univisión, and Telemundo; Julio Paredes.

The Chief Financial Officer of the Univision News Division; María Mercedes Carela (Sugarita), pastry chef; Moisés Cruz, former basketball player and coach; José Henríquez, president of the Dominican Chamber of Commerce in Florida; Rafael Quiñones, businessman; Luz Abreu, real estate agent and founder of Suelas de Amor; Jean Carlos Medina, lawyer and first Dominican prosecutor in Florida; Pedro Sánchez, pediatrician; and Diego Grullón, designer and automotive entrepreneur.
During the premiere, 10 of the protagonists of the Florida destination were recognized for their trajectories and contributions, as well as for representing stories capable of connecting and inspiring other Dominicans inside and outside the country. After its premiere, Dominicanos a Simple Vista will continue its exhibition at Caribbean Cinemas in Downtown Center, starting Thursday, October 8th.
