Santo Domingo.- The Hospital General de la Plaza de la Salud (HGPS) celebrated the 21st Graduation Ceremony of Resident Physicians, corresponding to the academic period 2024-2025, recognizing dozens of health professionals who successfully completed their training in different medical specialties.
The ceremony, which took place in the Dr. Bienvenido Delgado Billini Auditorium, was headed by the president of the HGPS, Dr. Julio Amado Castaños Guzmán, along with prominent directors of the institution such as Dr. Nepomuceno Mejía, medical director; Lic. Fresa Fernández, administrative director; and Dr. Violeta González Pantaleón, manager of the Teaching Department.
During the event, the effort, academic excellence, and commitment of the graduates were recognized, who concluded their residency in 16 medical specialty programs, including: Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Transplant, Critical Medicine and Intensive Care, Urology, Anesthesiology, Diagnostic Imaging, and Neurosurgery, among others.
With this new promotion, the HGPS reaches a total of 411 specialist doctors graduated, reaffirming its role as one of the main institutions that train health professionals in the Dominican Republic.
Furthermore, recognitions were given to the residents with the highest academic performance in each specialty, highlighting names such as Luis Manuel Montás Berroa (Internal Medicine), Nathali Peña (Family and Community Medicine), Gabriel Cedeño Sánchez (Infectious Diseases), and Ivanne Hoepelman (Anesthesiology), among others.
Dr. González Pantaleón expressed the institution’s pride in the achievements of this generation of professionals and urged them to continue raising the standards of Dominican medical practice.
