The Minister of Industry, Commerce and SMEs, Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, will represent the Dominican Republic at the Global Ministerial Meeting on SMEs, which is being held this week in Johannesburg, South Africa, with the participation of government leaders, multilateral organizations and leaders from the private sector of more than 50 countries. During the day, Bisonó will present the main results of the national policy to promote micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, highlighting progress in formalization, access to credit, digitalization, sustainability and the inclusion of historically underserved sectors such as women, youth and rural entrepreneurs. “This meeting is an opportunity to showcase what we have achieved in the Dominican Republic with our MSMEs, but also to listen, connect, and continue strengthening international alliances that contribute to our vision of productive, fair, and sustainable development,” said the minister. Among the most relevant spaces of his participation is the ministerial round table “Empowering MSMEs through digitalization”, in which he will share with representatives from Costa Rica, South Africa, Antigua and Barbuda, as well as directors of the International Trade Center, United Nations, SWIFT, Afrilabs and other global organizations. In addition, the minister in his capacity as president of the Prodominicana Council will receive the award for the “Best World Trade Promotion Organization” granted by the International Trade Centre (ITC) to ProDominicana, in recognition of the country’s good practices in trade promotion and investment attraction. The official agenda includes high-level panels, ministerial dialogue sessions, strategic networking spaces, and the signing of the “Call to Action” by the participating countries.
