Sports writing (EFE).- Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) reinforced his lead in the Formula One World Championship on Sunday by winning the Belgian Grand Prix, the thirteenth of the year, which was held this Sunday at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where Spaniards Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) and Carlos Sainz (Williams) finished outside the points, in seventeenth and eighteenth position, respectively.

Piastri led a new McLaren ‘double’, winning ahead of his teammate, the Englishman Lando Norris – whom he now surpasses by 16 points – a race that started with a delay of one hour and twenty minutes, due to the rain, and that the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) finished in third position, one ahead of the quadruple world champion Dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull).
Argentinian Franco Colapinto (Alpine) finished nineteenth this Sunday on the legendary track of Las Ardenas, the longest (7,004 meters) and one of the most spectacular in the World Championship. Where the Englishman George Russell (Mercedes) finished fifth, one place ahead of Thai Alex Albon, Sainz’s teammate.
British seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) starred in the comeback of the day and, after advancing eleven positions, finished seventh.
New Zealander Liam Lawson (RB) was eighth in a race in which Brazilian debutant Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber) -ninth- and Frenchman Pierre Gasly, Colapinto’s teammate at Alpine, also finished in the points.
Piastri will arrive as leader, with 266 points -16 more than Norris and 81 over Verstappen- at the Hungaroring, the circuit on the outskirts of Budapest; venue, next weekend, of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The last one before the vacation break.
