Santiago.- The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the Mayor of Santiago, Ulises Rodríguez, inaugurated this Friday the renovated sports roof of the Los Ciruelitos sector, a project valued at nearly RD$15 million that will benefit hundreds of young people, students, and residents of the community through the expansion of spaces for sports practice, educational activities, and community gatherings.
The infrastructure, executed by the Mayor’s Office of Santiago, is part of the projects promoted through the Participatory Budget and was expanded with additional resources from the municipal administrative budget to guarantee a comprehensive intervention in accordance with the community’s needs.
During the handover ceremony, Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted that the remodeling responds to a historical demand from the residents and reaffirms his administration’s commitment to transparency and the efficient use of public resources.
“We continue to yield the people’s money. Every peso invested here translates into better opportunities for our youth and into dignified spaces for sports and community coexistence”, expressed the municipal executive.

Rodríguez highlighted that the impact of the project transcends the sports sphere, because the facilities are also used daily by students from an educational center in the area, which will allow for the strengthening of academic, recreational, and cultural activities.

Likewise, he valued the support provided by President Luis Abinader to local governments, noting that the collaboration between the Central Government and the City Council has been decisive in executing projects that contribute to the development of Santiago and improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.
The project was originally approved through the Participatory Budget with an investment of RD$4,995,097.16, but subsequently received complementary resources that raised the total investment to nearly RD$15 million to expand the scope of the work.
Also present at the event were the provincial governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos; the general director of CORAASAN, Andrés Cueto; former ambassador Sonia Guzmán; as well as Roberto Herrera, government authorities, community leaders, athletes, and representatives from various sectors of the province.

With the delivery of the renovated roofing in Los Ciruelitos, the authorities seek to strengthen the sports and educational infrastructure of the sector, promoting adequate spaces for the training, recreation, and integral development of the youth of Santiago.
