Rafael Paz affirms Fuerza del Pueblo enters a new stage of active opposition, concrete proposals and preparation to govern

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Fuerza del Pueblo in the National District, Rafael Paz, affirmed that this organization has entered a new stage of political consolidation, characterized by a firmer opposition, a more proactive agenda and a clear preparation to assume the direction of the country. During an interview on the Telematutino program, Paz stated that, after completing its internal reorganization and election of authorities process, the Fuerza del Pueblo has strengthened its ability to interpret the main concerns of the citizenry, denounce the failures of the government, and present concrete solutions to the economic and social crisis that the Dominican Republic is experiencing. “The country is facing a government that has administered with a lot of propaganda and little real transformation. Our responsibility as the main opposition force is to point out what is wrong, but also to clearly propose what should be done differently,” he expressed. Paz pointed out that the Fuerza del Pueblo has been developing an opposition based on proposals in critical areas such as health, electricity, education and economy, with emphasis on defending the quality of life of Dominican families. You can also read: In health matters, he criticized the situation facing the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa), warning that its deterioration primarily affects the most vulnerable sectors. In the electrical field, he maintained that the party has insisted on the need to correct the structural weaknesses of the system, especially in transmission, distribution, and loss reduction, instead of continuing to improvise with emergency measures that increase the burden on public finances. Regarding education, he questioned the government’s intention to merge the Ministry of Education with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, considering that the national priority should be to raise the quality of learning and guarantee concrete responses to families who today face difficulties in accessing the public system. In that context, he proposed exploring mechanisms such as an educational bonus or voucher to alleviate the economic pressure on thousands of households. In economic terms, Paz warned about the slowdown in key sectors, the rising cost of living, and the persistent impact of inflation on food, factors that —he said— hit middle-class and lower-income households the hardest. The political leader emphasized that the Fuerza del Pueblo is now projecting itself as the main alternative for power in the Dominican Republic, having consolidated organic growth, a national structure, and an agenda increasingly connected to the real needs of the population. He highlighted that in the last elections the party surpassed one million two hundred thousand votes, consolidating itself as the main opposition force in the country and strengthening the foundations of its project towards 2028. Paz also rejected attempts by official sectors to promote supposed internal divisions within the organization, particularly between former President Leonel Fernández and Senator Omar Fernández, and assured that the Fuerza del Pueblo maintains full political and strategic cohesion.

“When a government starts to wear down, it tries to distract, divide, and sow noise among its adversaries. But the Fuerza del Pueblo is focused on something else: organizing, proposing, and preparing to govern,” he concluded.
