Abinader creates commission for sustainable and ecotourism development of the Pomier Caves

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader issued this Friday the decree that creates the commission for the sustainable and ecotourism development of the Pomier Caves where, according to data from the Academy of Sciences, some 1,700 samples of rock art have been identified. The decree instructs the coordination and installation of infrastructure for public use and ecotourism in its surroundings, always seeking to highlight and conserve the unique characteristics of this natural and cultural heritage, as reported by the legal consultant of the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, in a statement.

The commission will be comprised of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID), in addition to other members appointed by the president. According to the statement, this will be responsible for coordinating the necessary actions for the installation of the required physical structures, always respecting the scientific, educational, and cultural vocation of the area, as well as its environmental value.
