Santo Domingo.– The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, reported this Tuesday that the complaints that have circulated in a national media about alleged irregular charges for political purposes to employees of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), an entity headed by Hecmilio Galván, are under investigation.

“A person cannot be removed based on any complaint without first exhausting the corresponding studies. When there are ethical breaches or more serious situations, action is taken and the cases are referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office,” Abinader stated.
According to the report released, internal documents, WhatsApp conversations, and employee testimonies indicate the alleged existence of a political patronage scheme within FEDA, which would include mandatory financial contributions, labor pressures, suspensions without salary, and the use of the institutional structure to finance a political movement identified as “La Maquinaria del Cambio” (The Machinery of Change). The national media presented evidence and statements from workers in different provinces of the country, who claim that they are required to join the aforementioned movement and make monthly contributions calculated based on their salaries, under the warning of administrative sanctions or cancellations. The head of state reiterated that his government has demonstrated a firm stance against impunity and assured that, once the investigation is concluded, the corresponding measures will be adopted if irregularities are proven.
