Santo Domingo.- The
National Plenary of Leaders of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) called on the entire national teaching staff to join the
start of the 2025-2026 school year, scheduled for August 25th, in compliance with the school calendar established by the
Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD).
The call was made after the unanimous approval of the teaching body, which reaffirmed its commitment to education, families, and the country.
In a press conference held at the National House of the ADP, the president of the union, Professor Eduardo Hidalgo, stated: “On behalf of the commitment we have to Dominican education, as stated in our statutes, we call on all teachers to actively participate in the summer courses and at the beginning of the new school year on the indicated date”.
Likewise, he highlighted the union’s willingness to participate in the working groups convened by the
Minister of Education,
Luis Miguel De Camps, with the purpose of dialoguing and seeking joint solutions to strengthen the national education system.
During the meeting, the National Plenary of Leaders resolved to grant powers to the National Executive Committee to follow up and accompany the dialogue process with the educational authorities, in an environment of institutional cooperation, with a view to continuing to advance towards an inclusive, equitable and quality education.
Also, the formation of a technical commission made up of members of the National Executive Committee was announced, which will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the agreements and the schedule that will be established jointly with the MINERD.

The guild positively valued the opening of dialogue spaces throughout the national territory, announced by Minister De Camps García, to address in a participatory manner the needs of the education sector and ensure that every boy and girl in the country has access to a classroom and a quality educational experience.
The decision was adopted unanimously by the municipal and zonal presidents, the National Executive Committee, the National Council of Commissioners, and the members of the National Disciplinary Tribunal, during the celebration of the 2nd National Plenary of Leaders, held on August 7 and 8, 2025, at the facilities of the teachers’ cooperative hotel (COOPMARENA).
