Army detains 31 undocumented Haitians in operations in Santiago Rodríguez and Montecristi

SANTIAGO RODRÍGUEZ. – The Dominican Republic Army (ERD) reported that during operations carried out in the Northwest region, 31 Haitian citizens with irregular migratory status were arrested. At the Cruce de San José Post, Santiago Rodríguez province, an ERD patrol intercepted 15 foreigners attempting to evade military control, including 11 men and 4 women. Meanwhile, at the Hatillo Palma Detachment, Montecristi province, another patrol detained 16 Haitians, consisting of 14 men and 2 women, also in irregular migratory status and trying to avoid military inspection.

These actions are part of the permanent immigration interdiction, citizen security, and fight against illicit trafficking and smuggling operations, carried out by the Army in coordination with other state institutions, reaffirming its commitment to border security and immigration control in the area.
