Santo Domingo.– The Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM) released a commemorative postal issue titled “Glorias del Deporte y la Música de San Carlos”, dedicated to fourteen outstanding personalities from that sector of the capital.
The activity was led by the general director of INPOSDOM, Erick Guzmán Núñez, and was carried out with the presence of authorities and special guests. During the event, the collection was presented, divided into two series: “Glorias del Deporte de San Carlos” and “Glorias de la Música de San Carlos”. The honorees in the sports series are Manuel Henríquez, Antonio Martínez, Sergio Abreu, Fausto Ceja Rodríguez, Iván Mieses, Luis “Piñao” Ortiz and Francisco Martínez. In the musical series, Carlos Piantini, Francis Santana, Milton Peláez, Fernando Echavarría, Ricardo Ureña, Santiago Cerón and Milly Quezada are recognized.You can read: Director of Migration meets with Navy commander to strengthen institutional cooperation
Each series consists of 10,500 copies, printed on sheets with seven individual stamps, with a face value of RD$35.00 each. The stamps were printed on tropicalized and gummed paper, with 13½ perforation. The design was made by the architect Alejandro Vignieri, and the printing was in charge of Editorama. The issuance was authorized by Decree No. 606-23, dated November 29, 2023, and is part of the philatelic series No. 13-25 of INPOSDOM. San Carlos, founded in 1685, is recognized as a sector with relevant contributions to the history, culture, and sports of the Dominican Republic. This initiative is part of INPOSDOM’s efforts to preserve and disseminate cultural heritage through philately.
