Puerto Plata.- The “Bride of the Atlantic” will become the epicenter of Latin American baseball with the celebration of the
Twelfth Induction of the Latin Baseball Hall of Fame, from
November 28 to 30, marking a historic milestone by taking place for the first time in this coastal city.
The class of 2025 will be led by the Puerto Plata icon
Bartolo Colón, who will share his entry into the hall of immortals with other high-caliber figures such as
Miguel Tejada,
Julio César Franco,
Adrián “El Titán” González and
Francisco “El Kid” Rodríguez.
“It’s an honor to be inducted into the Latin Hall of Fame, and even more so here, in my province, Puerto Plata. I have waited for this moment for a long time,” expressed an emotional Bartolo Colón during the official press conference of the event.
Sports tourism gains momentum in the north of the country
The exaltation not only celebrates the greats of baseball, but also boosts the international projection of
Puerto Plata as a sports tourism destination, an initiative led by the
Dominican Association of Sports Tourism (ADOTURD).
“We wanted this event to support the tourism development of the area. Having stars of the stature of Bartolo Colón, Tejada and Adrián González is an incalculable boost for the city,” said
Jerik Pérez, president of ADOTURD.
For his part,
Robinson Paredes, executive director of the Hall of Fame, highlighted that “the presence of these icons will bring a lot of light, joy and pride to Puerto Plata.”
Agenda
The event will feature a varied program that combines sports, culture, and entertainment. Among the most outstanding activities are:
- Immortals Game, a softball game with Latin baseball legends (Sunday, December 7, 10:00 a.m.)
- Immortals Gathering, an intimate conversation space with the inductees (Saturday 6, 11:00 a.m.)
- Benefit Dinner, in support of a local foundation (Saturday 6, 8:00 p.m.)
- Grand Induction Ceremony (Sunday 7, 6:00 p.m.)
In addition, family activities will be developed in Playa Dorada and tourist areas of the province.
The enshrinement will be broadcast live through the digital platforms and social networks of the
Latin Baseball Hall of Fame, including YouTube, with scheduled rebroadcasts until the end of November.
The new immortals of Latin baseball are:
- Francisco “Kid” Rodríguez (Venezuela): Record of 62 saves in a season (2008), sixth all-time in MLB.
- Bartolo Colón (RD): Most winning Latin player in MLB (247 victories), Cy Young 2005, 4-time All-Star.
- Miguel Tejada (RD): 2002 American League MVP, 6-time All-Star, World Series champion.
- Julio César Franco (RD): Legend of longevity, with more than 2,500 hits in MLB, active until age 49.
- Adrián González (Mexico): 5-time All-Star, more than 300 home runs, ambassador of Mexican baseball.
