“El Gordo” sentenced to 30 years in prison for the death of a young man in Los Aguayos

San Francisco de Macorís. – A court in Duarte Province sentenced Fernando Anselmo Martínez Alcántara, alias El Gordo, to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of the homicide of Néstor Javier Rodríguez, which occurred in December 2024 in the Los Aguayos sector. The sentence establishes that Martínez Alcántara violated articles 265, 266, 295, 296, 297 and 302 of the Dominican Penal Code, related to criminal association and voluntary homicide. The convicted person must serve the sentence in the Vista del Valle Correction and Rehabilitation Center.

After the verdict was announced, María Virgen José Goris, the victim’s mother, stated that the decision gives her “a little peace” after months of waiting for justice. She thanked God, the court, and her family for the support received during the process. Goris highlighted that this is only the first of several files related to the case and stated that the family expects the same determination from the authorities regarding the other people involved.
