Rubby Pérez’s sister asks God to give Antonio Espaillat strength

Santo Domingo.- The deputy for the province of Puerto Plata, Lidia Pérez, and sister of the deceased merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who died in the Jet Set tragedy, this Wednesday asked for strength for the artistic entrepreneur Antonio Espaillat, the main accused in the case and who at that moment was waiting in the accused’s bench awaiting the coercive measure to be known.

When asked how she felt seeing him before the justice system, Pérez stated: “Remember that justice is not revenge, I felt compassion for him, I said to God: ‘Lord, give him strength to face his responsibility.’ I did not feel happy because we are human, but he was responsible for everything he did.”

Antonio Espaillat faces accusations related to the accident that occurred at the Jet Set nightclub, where 236 people lost their lives, including the popular merengue singer.

Lidia Pérez, in addition to being a direct relative of one of the victims, has been present in every phase of the judicial process, clamoring for justice and for a new Penal Code.
