Antoliano Peralta specifies that with this clarification he intends to urge the verification of the exact content of the bill and to guarantee truthful and accurate communication.
Santo Domingo.- The Legal Advisor to the Executive Branch, Antoliano Peralta, clarified that in the two aforementioned publications, only two functions currently held by the Public Prosecutor’s Office would actually be transferred to the Ministry of Justice, these being those related to the penitentiary system and the registration of non-profit associations.
This clarification was made by Peralta after two national circulation newspapers published an article highlighting some elements that do not correspond to the content of the bill seeking to create the Ministry of Justice and which was approved in its first reading by the Senate.
“Así la gran mayoría de los departamentos mencionados en la reseña periodística se refieren a funciones propias del Ministerio Público y que no son abordadas de forma alguna en el proyecto de ley del Ministerio de Justicia, tales como la representación de víctimas, las extradiciones, la administración de bienes incautados, el control de alquileres de casa y desahucios y la ejecución Judicial”, señaló el funcionario.
The Legal Counsel also stated that other inconsistencies evidenced in the review published in these newspapers concern the very name of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the number and denominations of the vice-ministries that the institution would have.
He stated that with this clarifying letter, he intends to urge the verification of the exact content of the bill actually approved in first reading in the Senate, with the purpose of guaranteeing truthful and accurate communication. Peralta specified that the clarification also aims to prevent “other people from reproducing such mistakes.”
