Santo Domingo, RD.- The urban exponent Don Miguelo spoke out this Tuesday about the recent union initiative of the Dominican urban genre, led by the businessman Santiago Matías (Alofoke), Lápiz Conciente and El Alfa. Through his social networks, the artist expressed his refusal to participate in said project. Don Miguelo’s pronouncement comes after Lápiz Conciente published a video supporting the collaboration proposal with El Alfa, and suggesting the inclusion of other exponents such as Rochy RD and Don Miguelo himself.

The proposal was spearheaded by Matías, who stated he was willing to invest 100 thousand dollars in the production of the song, with distribution under Alofoke Music – Sony Music. However, Don Miguelo reacted with a message posted on his official account, where he made it clear that he has no intention of being part of the initiative. “It’s already too late to soften the beans. When I told them to join, they didn’t want to, I’m already old for them to see me as a condom. Stay on the toll road and everything’s fine. Nobody is going to drain my peace. Att. The door of the return,” expressed the artist. The initial union proposal was presented as an attempt to strengthen the Dominican urban movement and overcome past conflicts between figures in the genre. Both Lápiz and El Alfa showed openness to collaborate, highlighting that the intention must be authentic and free of betrayals. Don Miguelo did not offer further details nor directly mentioned Lápiz, El Alfa or Santiago Matías, but his publication was interpreted as a direct response to the mentions made by Lápiz in his video. So far, none of those involved have reacted to the interpreter of “7 locas”‘s refusal, however the public has expressed their opinions mostly against Don Miguelo’s statement. Don Miguelo’s stance marks a key point in the discussion about the possible union within the local urban genre, however, it has highlighted the still latent differences between some of its main exponents.
