The person guilty of trying to kill Trump tried to stab himself with a pen after the verdict
Miami (USA).- Ryan Routh, the man found guilty of attempting to kill Donald Trump in 2024 when the magnate was running for the presidency of the United States, tried to stab himself inside the court in Florida with a pen in the neck after hearing the jury’s verdict.
Routh, a 59-year-old construction worker, was found guilty this Tuesday of attempting to assassinate a presidential candidate for having tried to kill Trump on a golf course in Florida on September 15 of last year.
After the reading of the verdict, which found him guilty also of the charges of possessing a firearm to commit a crime of violence, attacking a federal agent, being a criminal with a weapon and having a weapon with a serial number erased, Routh tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen, according to national media.
The authorities present in the room prevented the man from inflicting harm on himself and removed him from the room, after which Routh returned handcuffed to conclude the process, according to witness accounts to several television networks.

Routh was arrested on the same day of the assassination attempt, after a Secret Service agent discovered him armed with a semi-automatic rifle hidden behind some bushes. Although he managed to escape, a citizen identified the vehicle in which he was fleeing and he ended up being arrested hours later.
Trump celebrated the verdict as “a great moment for justice in the United States” in a message on his social network Truth Social and congratulated Attorney General Pam Bondi for obtaining Routh’s conviction.
Routh’s trial began on September 11th, one day after the murder of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist close to Trump, who blamed the “radical left” for the act, which unleashed a renewed national debate on political violence in the United States.
