Laura Pausini announces album with songs by Latin artists such as Bad Bunny and Joan Sebastian

Miami, USA – Laura Pausini will release ‘Yo canto 2’ next year, an album with new versions of songs by artists from Spain and Latin America such as ‘Turista’ by Bad Bunny, and ‘Eso y más’ by the late Mexican singer-songwriter Joan Sebastian, as revealed this Tuesday by the Italian artist at Billboard’s Latin Music Week. The interpreter, who also announced a tour to accompany the album that will begin next March in Spain, revealed that Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Martínez, wrote to her when she uploaded an interpretation of ‘Turista’ on her social networks, one of the motivations behind the new production. “Benito wrote to me in ‘DM’ (direct message) on Instagram, saying that he never would have imagined that one day he would sing one of his songs, I thanked him very much for having written it because there is a personal motivation for which I like it, in addition to giving me chills when I hear his version and also mine,” he related.

Pausini presented the cover of her album at The Fillmore theater in Miami Beach, which she considers her “first tribute to the composers, singers and artists of Spain and all of Latin America”. The album, which revisits the idea of his 2006 material ‘Yo canto’, will have a version in Spanish and one in Italian, each with 20 songs, except for ‘Mi historia entre tus dedos’ (‘La mia storia tra le dita’) by the Italian Gianluca Grignani, which will appear in both. The Italian woman narrated that the idea of singing ‘Turista’ by Bad Bunny came to her while “she was driving here in Miami” and the song played, which she considers appropriate for her style. “I absolutely love the idea that he understood how important it was for me to do it in my style, appreciating that, because it doesn’t happen with everyone. Many people think that Benito and I are opposites, but, as you can see, there are songs that don’t have a style, in any style you make it, something vibrates,” he said. The artist announced that the tour of Europe and America will be extended until at least 2027, when she will perform in her first stadium in Brazil. He also confessed that he is at a “privileged” point after 32 years of career, so he can interpret ‘covers’, as he wanted to make an album with the music he likes to sing at home and with friends, even if this does not imply royalties, in addition to being a karaoke lover. “The album is like my life, it’s a journey that I took, I started from Spain, I was in Chile, in Argentina, Mexico, North America, Colombia, Venezuela. There’s at least one song for each nation,” he explained, without revealing more songs. Pausini will receive the Billboard Icon Award at these awards next Thursday in Miami, which will culminate the current Billboard Latin Music Week 2025, which will also feature artists such as Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Peso Pluma, Pablo Alborán, Aitana and Gloria Estefan.
