The “queen of merengue,” Milly Quezada, landed this Tuesday in Dominican Republic to receive the recognition that the Women Who Inspire Award will grant her tomorrow Wednesday, for her more than 50 years in art and an admirable career that has filled Dominicans with great satisfaction and that at the same time, has allowed her to inspire many with her example and trajectory.
The interpreter of the success Solo contigo, who emigrated from Santo Domingo to New York with her brothers Rafael and Martín Quezada in 1965, has become a voice of impact in the Dominican community in the big city, contributing to keep traditions and our culture alive.

The “queen of merengue” will receive the Professional Career Award in this edition for her great contribution to the development of music and her impact as a woman in the industry, and five other women – including a new competitive category – will be honored in the same number of fields such as entrepreneurship, education, career, professional achievement, leadership, and social commitment, which were chosen by the Advisory Council.
The advisory body was integrated for the 2025 edition, in addition to Emelyn Baldera and Elka Núñez, by Jatnna Tavárez, Thais Herrera, Fanny Zuleyka Guzmán, Rosa Mercedes García Crespo, Celeste Pérez, Dharuelly D’Aza, vice president of the Chamber of Deputies; Francinna Arias Guerra, Elizabeth Mena and Milagros Escarramán.
Also, Claudia Franchesca de los Santos, Julieta Tejada, Lisibel Cordero, Elianny Tavárez, Ingrid Fernández and Máximo Jiménez, general advisor of the awards, belong to the council.
Communicator Jatnna Tavárez will be in charge for the second consecutive year of hosting the ceremony that will bring together a select representation of women from different areas of society at the Casa San Pablo Theater: business, communication, entrepreneurs, politicians, educators, designers, journalists, artists and from the public security environment.
“It will be a special night, recognizing the legacy, the imprint of great women is exciting and even more so when we talk about Milly Quezada receiving the highest award of the night,” said Emelyn Baldera, ideologist of the awards and executive producer.
The gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the red carpet hosted by Laura Guzmán and coverage of incidents by Yokasta Valenzuela, it has the support of Banco Popular, the Mayor’s Office of the National District, El Avance, AFP Reservas, Il Capuccino, Ministry of Culture, Infotep, Supérate, The Sweet Pâtisserie, La Crónica and Resolto.
Elka Núñez, general producer of the awards ceremony, works with her team to make it an unforgettable evening, counting on the artistic participation of Luisanna Grullón, Sabrina Estepan, Yohan Amparo, Techy Fatule and Melody Astacio for the musical segments, in addition to the ambiance of the carpet that is in charge of Adriana Garcell.
The actress Honny Estrella will have a special participation in the gala, in which representatives of different generations of communication and art such as Miralba Ruiz, Karina Alarcón, Elianta Quintero, Pavel Núñez, Juliana O’Neal, and Yubelkis Peralta have reserved a space in the production.
Designer Melkis Díaz is in charge of the wardrobe for the award’s talents, which will feature a special broadcast through RTVD, channel 4, the official channel of the award, on Sunday, July 27 at 7:00 p.m.
